Boarding
The opening
of a boarding was necessitated by many factors.
- Since there was no other
special school in Sindhudurg district, and near by areas,
people could not send their mentally handicapped children
daily to the training centre from far away places.
- Lack of transportation facility
compelled the people to entrust us the care of these children.
- There are situations where
other family members have not yet adjusted to the mentally
retarded children in the family. Even the parents cannot
cop up with the situation. Such children also have to
be rehabilitated.
- There are also mentally
retarded orphans and they have to be rehabilitated
At present Jeevdan boarding houses 37 children (16
boys and 20 girls) in the age group of 6- 18 years. Most
of them are from a distance of 25 to 450 Kilometers from
Jeevdan. . .At present with the Financial support from Kindermissionwerk,through
Inning Parish ,Germany,we could make a 3 story building.The
ground floor of the new building cosists of 4 class rooms
and the first and second floor of the building is used as
boarding. One Rev.Sister is in charge of the boardingn and
3 other girls assist her.they prepare food and help the
children to do their acivities of daily living.
Our future plan is to make a saparate building for
the girls boarding. .Now boys and girls are accomadated
in the same building.We plan to increase the strenth of
the boarding also..
