Objectives -The main objective of Jeevdan is to integrate the mentally handicapped individuals into the family and society by training them and helping them to be rehabilitated in the society. -To bring awareness among the parents and the society that these individuals are also at par with other human beings. -Early identification and prevention of mental retardation. · To provide education and training of the mentally challenged children · To accommodate mentally challenged in the boarding who are far away from jeevdan. · To conduct camps to assess the mentally challenged children and to guide parents · Begin more community based rehabilitation (CBR) centers for the mentally handicapped · To organize awareness Programme, workshops and seminars for various groups to create public opinion in favor of the handicapped. · Provide guidance, counseling and support to the parents. · To rehabilitate mentally challenged persons · To train animators, volunteers and special teachers to work for the persons with disabilities · To conduct survey to identify the mentally handicapped children. Specific Goals · To provide boarding facility for 100 mentally challenged children from distant areas. · To provide the mentally retarded children education, therapies, pre- vocational training, institutional care and medical rehabilitation. · To arrange and monitor community based Rehabilitation. (CBR) · To provide them vocational training and work opportunities. · To enable to live as independent, useful and productive citizens in caring and understanding society. · To involve parents and family members in the various activities of the centre and helping them to manage their children. · To enable them to bring out their talents through cultural activities.
